Top 5 Tips For an AMAZING Brand Photoshoot

Ah, photoshoots! They can be extremely fun, inspiring and empowering, but also overwhelming. After all, the photos are very important. They will be a crucial part of your presentation and a big factor in determining whether people will contact you or not.

So how do you make sure your photoshoot is a success? Here are my Top 5 Tips For an AMAZING Brand Photoshoot:

1. Choose The Right Photographer

You want to work with someone who understands branding photography and will guide you smoothly through the process. Photography is a vast field and it’s very unlikely a newborn photographer (just an example) will have the expertise/equipment/props/space necessary to create excellent branding photos.

2. Pick The Right Wardrobe

The better the wardrobe, the better your photoshoot. It doesn’t mean you need designer wardrobe. It means you want variety and outfits that work for you, your brand and your body shape. I actually take the time to do a wardrobe consultation with my clients, because it always means better results!

3. Pick Your Colors

Picking and sticking to your brand colors is a big part of building a brand, brand recognition and loyalty. It will make your personal brand more memorable and less confusing. Why is brand recognition SO important? Just imagine how confusing it would be if your favorite brand of cereal was changing their colors and logo every month.

4. Plan Your Content

You will maximize your investment if you can tie your photos to specific content posts you will create throughout the year.

Here are 5 ideas:

a post about your company's mission/name

a post about favorite books/podcasts related to your field

a post about how your clients’ life changed after working with you

a FAQ post

a post showing your work behind the scenes

5. Choose The Right Props

A branding photoshoot will have more of that WOW Factor with the right props. Incorporate props from your work life and again, stick to those brand colors.

Watercolour Artist & Kimono Designer Marina Billinghurst

Watercolour Artist & Kimono Designer Marina Billinghurst

What a treat it was to finally work with Toronto Watercolour Artist & Kimono Designer Marina Billinghurst!

Marina’s work is becoming super popular not only in Toronto but also across the world. We had the pleasure of photographing the artist herself in her stunning Junction studio before heading out to Pure Studios for more photos.

Marina’s dreamy watercolour patterns adorn not only wall art but also accessories and of course her stunning kimonos. It was time to photograph it all!

Marina’s photos are just like her personality: effortless, free-spirited, creative, dreamy!

Marina is super warm and you simply want to be around her, but this lovely spirit also possesses an incredible strength. When she suffered a horrible car accident and learned about her mom being diagnosed with cancer shortly after, she decided there was nowhere to go but up.

Life is short and we just don’t know when or why it’s our time.

But we do know when we have to do something.

And we do it.

The Biggest Mindset Mistake Women Make In Business

The Biggest Mindset Mistake Women Make In Business

Women are strong. Women have the most difficult job in the world - they are mothers. So why is creating and keeping a business alive often so difficult for us? After all, we are resourceful, we can multitask, we are responsible…

Laura

Our last photoshoot with Laura De Sanctis, Nutritionist at Go With Your Gut, was super cozy, sweet & sexy!

Veronica

One of my New Year resolutions was to photograph more fashion, so I was thrilled to start working with Veronica! I felt very inspired when she came with wardrobe ideas to her consultation. She’s also such a sweet soul.

Veronica is our subscriber, which means she benefits from regular photoshoots. She wanted the vibe of this photoshoot to be edgy, minimalist and modern!

Winter Favorites

PureStudiosAgnesKieszMerryChristmas.jpg

A lot of us have a love-hate relationship with this season. I’m no different. I love the atmosphere of Christmas, dreamy snow, mulled wine in restaurants, cozy sweaters. But I also have a hard time with shorter days, less sunlight and being lazy and unmotivated. Here are some of my recent favourites which have helped me enjoy this winter much more!

  1. Red Parka

I love dressing up in winter, but when it’s quite cold, there’s nothing like a great parka. It’s a must for me when I’m travelling, makes me feel safe, comfortable and warm. This Calvin Klein model has plenty of practical pockets. When I’m travelling, I always want to have my documents, my wallet and phone in an inside pocket.

2. Lavender Goodies: Sleepy Body Lotion & Pure Couture Soap

If you know me well, you know I’m obsessed with good quality lavender products. They are a big part of my bedtime routine. I love using the lavender soap from Pure Couture for my evening shower and afterwards Sleepy Body Lotion on my body. After this ritual, I usually fall asleep in minutes :)

3. Pearl Ear Muffs & Gloves

Cute accessories can brighten a dark winter day. I particularly like these ear muffs because they keep my ears warm without messing up my hair!

4. Photo of the Season: Sexy Sweater Weather

I’ve been wanting to take some sensual photos just for myself for a while now. But as it often is with those things, I kept delaying it. The main reason was gaining a few pounds, as I always do when fall starts. Then I decided I don’t need to look perfect to be happy with a photo of myself. Once the photos were done, my only regret was not having them done sooner.

5. Quote: Women should be Brave, not perfect.

There’s a lot of famous quotes from Billie Jean (one of my favourite tennis icons), but this one is very special to me. Every single day I see women stopping themselves from marketing themselves, from speaking out, from putting themselves out there simply because they’re not perfect (in their head).
If we want to change that for our and future generations, we have to be brave. We have to consciously choose where we put our focus. Nobody will do it for us, we have to do it for ourselves. Seeking validation is pointless because if you’re doing that, you’re already giving your power away. Why not instead focus on what good we can create, how we can become masters of our craft and how we can have plenty of fun along the way.

I hope you enjoyed my winter favorites! Before we know it, it will be spring again.
