Photoshoot Guidelines

hair & makeup

  • it plays a big role in how your photos turn out, avoid makeup that is too strong

  • avoid dark lipsticks and too much lip gloss; if your photoshoot is in winter and you get chapped lips, use a lip balm

  • colour your roots, avoid changing your haircut drastically in case something goes wrong

skin

  • avoid spray tanning, which can give skin an orange look

  • if you have tan lines, choose an outfit that hides them

hands

  • hands say a lot about us, make sure your nails look tidy and clean, fresh manicure is always good

wardrobe

  • avoid clothes with pattern, solid colours are best

  • avoid shiny suits

  • if you want to wear pattern, it's best not to mix patterns (for example avoid a tie with a pattern + shirt with a pattern together)

  • clothes should be well fitting, not too tight and not too loose; avoid loose sweaters

  • clothes should be ironed for the photoshoot

  • for more conservative professionals, covered arms for women are usually more appropriate

  • for a timeless look (especially for websites), avoid clothes that are too seasonal (summer dresses etc.) and choose evergreen outfits

  • DO NOT leave the outfit preparation until the morning of your photoshoot, have the outfits (+ jewellery and accessories) prepared at least the night before; we’re most likely to forget things when we rush in the morning
