BEFORE YOUR PHOTOSHOOT

HAIR & MAKEUP

Hair & makeup will play a big role in how your photos turn out, it should ideally be done by a professional.

It’s important to have a reference photo of yourself (where you like the level of your makeup) to show to the artist.

Things important to communicate to your hair/makeup artist: what colours of eye shadows you like, how you like to fill in your eyebrows, whether you want mascara on top and bottom lashes, whether you like your lips a little bit overdrawn or not, what volume you like in your hair, whether you like curls or waves and any other specific requests.

For Brand Photoshoots, you should look your best, but still like you, so do not go too glamourous if that’s not your look every day. We recommend a natural look. If you want to experiment, it’s better to book a makeup/hair trial before your photo shoot.

If you’re getting a haircut before your shoot, do not make drastic changes. Make sure your roots are done.

If you’re getting hair and makeup done at our studio, arrive with no product on your face, only moistuirize in the morning. If your hair is best for styling the day your wash it, wash it in the morning. If it’s best for styling the day after you wash it, prepare accordingly.

SKIN

Be very mindful of tan lines, removing them is not included in portrait retouching.

If you want to tan before your photoshoot, choose a tanning bed instead of spray tanning and self tanners.

Use clear deodorant & moisturize your body before your session.

MATERNITY & BOUDOIR: Please wear loose clothing when arriving for your photoshoot to avoid pressure marks from items like socks, tight underwear, or tight jeans.

WARDROBE

Iron your wardrobe and put outfits on hangers.

Avoid too many outfits with big patterns.

Try to bring at least one white outfit, white photographs beautifully!

Remember about jewellery and accessories.

Shoes are usually not in photos, so 2-3 pairs are sufficient, you do not need shoes for every single outfit unless you want full body shots.

Bring proper undergarments for your outfits - a strapless bra for a strapless dress etc.

Prepare what you need to bring the evening before. Check if you have everything. We’re most likely to forget things when we rush in the morning.

HANDS & FEET

Your photoshoot is a great excuse for a fresh mani/pedi, whether you go to the salon or want to DIY. If you can’t go to the salon, make sure your nails are tidy and clean. Your hands and feet will show in many of your images and we don’t want chipped polish!

For women, even clear polish is better than nothing on the nails.

Feel free to bring a beverage and a light snack, especially if your photoshoot is on the longer side.

BOOKING ETIQUETTE

rescheduling photoshoot & hair/makeup artist: $300 + hst

rescheduling your photoshoot day: $200 + hst

other appointments: $50 + hst

Why are rescheduling fees part of our studio policy?

  1. Photoshoots typically span half a day (or longer) and require preparation and cleanup. It becomes exceedingly challenging to fill a rescheduled spot. Our clients often undertake various preparations, such as haircuts, hair coloring, manicures, and skin procedures, making it a lengthy process. As a result, when a rescheduling occurs, it significantly impacts our ability to utilize that time effectively, leading to a considerable loss of our workday.

  2. When rescheduling takes place, not only do we lose a workday, but our makeup artists/assistants/retouchers etc. also face a similar predicament. To maintain fairness to our contractors, we find it necessary to compensate them for their time, as they, too, experience a loss in income due to the rescheduled appointment.

Get excited, you will enjoy your photoshoot more than you think!

YOUR PHOTOSHOOT DAY

It’s important to arrive on time, so we don’t lose any shooting time. It’s ok to arrive 5-10 minutes early.

Your photoshoot is fully guided, so you don’t need to know how to model. I’ll be composing photos, then guiding you through the photoshoot.

If I’m quiet at times, it’s because I’m adjusting camera settings and need to focus. Please stay focused on my instructions.

This is the day to love yourself. You can use the affirmation below to help:

PHOTOSHOOT AFFIRMATION

This is the day to celebrate myself.

I will focus on what I love about myself and all the things that make me beautiful.

I don’t need to be perfect to be beautiful, it’s my uniqueness that makes me beautiful.

I will take this time to re-connect with myself, have fun and enjoy myself.

Through the magic of photography, I will cherish this experience forever!

“Make yourself a priority once in a while. It’s not selfish. It’s necessary.”

– Karen A. Baquiran

 AFTER YOUR PHOTOSHOOT

YOUR REVEAL

10-15 business days after your photoshoot we will meet for your Reveal, which is an experience in itself. Editing is the most time consuming part of the project as we take great care in editing your photos.

It is your last appointment, you can choose and purchase a Collection of your choice.

If you’re not the main decision maker and you want another person present, they need to be educated about the process.

Your photos will already be edited, but if you still want things adjusted, we will do it together on the big screen, so you’re 100% happy.
